Even well-traveled divers love diving the walls of Gorontalo for their amazing and diverse sponges. Divers are sure to marvel at the tangled tapestry of hanging blue rope sponges at several sites. Near the bottom of the first wall, vase, barrel and trumpet sponges easily outsize the diver. But the clear favorite is what we at Miguel’s Diving call the Salvador Dali sponge (Petrosia lignosa) for its surrealistically carved surface. Although this sponge is only known from vertical walls in Indonesia, including those in North Sulawesi, the intricately swirled surface is only found in Gorontalo, where it is quite common and grows to incredible size. descriptionMiguel's Diving Gorontalo is currently building dive shop facilites on the river at our dock. Our office at our newly opened Gorontalo Oasis Hotel at Jl. Agus Salim No 29. Nestled in the heart of Gorontalo City, the Oasis is a world away. At its center is a grove of giant sago palms surrounding a pool of natural spring water full of fish. Light breezes from the mountains rustle the bamboo. Fragrant flowers perfume the night air. Rooms come with ceramic tile floors, wonderful underwater photo print, two twin beds or a queen size bed, hot water, a/c, international cable TV, mini-bar and breakfast. Hotel facilities include an Internet room and a newly opened salon for hair and massage treatments. Guests also enjoy unlimited drinking water thanks to our own water-purification system. |
